ARTIST RESIDENCY

ARTIST RESIDENCY

This week I am lucky enough to be able to take time to focus on the creative heart of my work - away from the hustle of normal life. Time I am incredibly grateful for, that feels a total luxury and indulgence, but also a necessity if I want my work to develop, improve and grow. Anyone that has run a small business solo knows that there are an amazing amount of hidden jobs - from ordering the packaging, updating the website, ordering in raw materials, photography, sales events, social media, accounts, planning and booking events etc etc So many jobs that the whole point of your business - in my case designing and making jewellery by hand - can get pushed down the "to do" list. That is not a good situation to be in for too long.

So this week is about walking, thinking, looking and being in the moment - then drawing and doodling, playing with paper cut outs and jeweller's wax. I'm hoping to not put too much pressure on myself to come up with a whole new finished collection - but we will see! I do know that anything experienced this week will feed into my work in a meaningful way....

I will share photos on my stories on instagram - of inspiration, process and environment - as well as the stunning house I will be staying in - Kindred House in Margate.
